Description of Agency
The Structure Program Division (SPD) is responsible for structure preservation and maintenance, including management of bridge request for action; region structures maintenance support; Statewide crews for reach all vehicles, signs, and bridge repair; emergency coordination; priority preservation of structures; and ancillary structures. SPD is also responsible for performing bridge load rating calculations, posting load rating information for Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT)-owned bridges, and ensuring all local bridges have load ratings completed.
Audit Objectives
- To assess the effectiveness of SPD’s Bridge Load Rating Unit.
- To assess the effectiveness of SPD’s Ancillary Structures Unit.
- To assess the sufficiency of SPD’s efforts to preserve and maintain MDOT-owned bridges and structures.
- To assess the effectiveness of selected security and access controls over the ArcGIS and MiBRIDGE systems.
