Craig M. Murray, C.P.A., C.I.A., became Director of Professional Practice for the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) in November 2002. As Director, Mr. Murray is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the OAG's Office of Professional Practice, which performs quality assurance reviews of all audit reports and working papers, edits the audit reports, and conducts accounting and auditing research.

Prior to his appointment as Director of Professional Practice, Mr. Murray was a principal audit supervisor with the OAG.

Mr. Murray is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

Mr. Murray's service to these and other professional organizations includes: member of the Journal of Accountancy's Editorial Advisory Board; member of AGA's Financial Management Standards Board; past president and current treasurer of the Lansing Chapter of the IIA; member of the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers' Committee on Accounting, Reporting and Auditing; member of the National State Auditors Association's Audit Standards and Reporting Committee and Single Audit Committee; and former Director of Public Relations and Board member for the State Association of Accountants, Auditors, and Business Administrators.

Mr. Murray obtained his bachelor's degree in accounting from Michigan State University and is a life member of the Michigan State University Alumni Association.
