Description of Agency

The Office of Aeronautics administers the federal Airports Capital Improvement Program, which provides project management for the programming, planning, design, safety evaluation, and construction of airports. The Office of Aeronautics’ responsibilities include providing overall administration and direction for aviation programs, assisting communities and aviation interests in aeronautical matters, and providing air transportation services to State personnel.

Audit Objectives

  1. To assess the sufficiency of the Office of Aeronautics’ oversight of the Airports Capital Improvement Program.

  2. To assess the effectiveness of the Office of Aeronautics’ administration of safety and education programs, air transportation services, and organizational functions.
