How and To Whom Audit Reports Are Issued

Audit reports issued by the Office of the Auditor General are typically addressed to the audited entity's chief executive officer, or to the chair of its governing board or commission.

At noon on the day prior to the official release date of an audit report, the chief executive officer, or chair of its governing board or commission, is provided a copy of the audit report. This copy typically will be forwarded via electronic mail, but may also be a paper copy.

On the official release date, copies of the audit report are also sent to the following:

The Office of the Auditor General does not issue press releases on any audit report. However, a copy of each audit report is sent to the Capitol pressroom.
