Richard A. Stafford, C.P.A., became an Audit Division Administrator for the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) in 1995. As an Audit Division Administrator, Mr. Stafford has both administrative and audit oversight responsibilities for ensuring that OAG financial and performance audits are responsive to legislative, agency, and public needs while also ensuring that OAG audits are conducted in accordance with professional auditing standards. Mr. Stafford is responsible for audits of the Department of Community Health; Department of History, Arts and Libraries; and Michigan Department of Transportation.
Prior to his appointment as an Audit Division Administrator, Mr. Stafford served as the Manager of Quality Assurance within the OAG Office of Professional Practice. While serving as the Manager of Quality Assurance, Mr. Stafford also participated as a reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association's Special Review Committee. The Special Review Committee awards certificates of achievement to public entities that attain excellence in financial reporting. Mr. Stafford is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Stafford obtained Bachelor of Science degrees in Management and Accountancy from Ferris State University. Mr. Stafford started his service with the OAG on June 2, 1974.
