Mary Jo Koschay, C.P.A., was appointed as an Audit Manager in November 2005. As an Audit Manager, Ms. Koschay shares responsibility with the Audit Division Administrator for the financial and performance audits at the Department of Agriculture, Department of Corrections, and Department of Management and Budget; the annual audit of the State of Michigan Comprehensive Annual Financial Report; and contract audit coordination. In addition, Ms. Koschay participates in the formulation of audit policy and the establishment of goals and objectives for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Bureau of Audit Operations. She also participates in the presentation of final audit reports to legislative committees and represents the Auditor General when consulting with, providing assistance to, or advising officials from other states, the federal government, and professional organizations.
Ms. Koschay has served the Office of the Auditor General's Bureau of Audit Operations for 14 years in management, supervisory, and staff functions and its Office of Professional Practice for an additional 6 years in the research and professional standards function. She has extensive experience with financial audits, including provisions of the Single Audit Act, and performance audits of the State and its organizations and programs. Ms. Koschay is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the State Association of Accountants, Auditors, and Business Administrators. She has served in a leadership position on the Board of the Greater Lansing Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants and as a member of the National State Auditors Association's Audit Standards and Reporting Committee. Ms. Koschay has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Lake Superior State University.
